a bit about level 2
PCI Level 2 is all about running great pickleball lessons. The course combines a thorough understanding of pickleball technique and tactics, and marries it with the ability to organize people so that the lessons are incredibly safe, fun and effective.
Coaches who successfully complete the PCI Level 2 program will be people who are very solid instructors. They will have shown the ability to lead effectively, organize thoughtful group training, make their players better, and do so in a way that follows coaching best-practices.
As with Level 1, Level 2 is done 100% online. This means you can complete the certification on your own schedule.
How is Level 2 Different From Level 1?
More Comprehensive.
While the Level 1 course touches on a wide range of coaching skills, the Level 2 course really dives in. We spend significant time on how to adjust the challenge of lessons so everyone is pushed just enough. We use charting and statistics to motivate learning. We get more involved in problem solving and how to run great lessons with awkward numbers of players. In short, the PCI Level 2 course covers more ground in more detail.
A Focus on Communication and Feedback.
In the Level 2 program, instructors must show themselves to be effective leaders. They must demonstrate that they can take charge of a group and show that they can move that group from Point A to Point B effectively. Feedback quality and quantity is a focus in this course, as is making sure all players get attention.In the Level 1 course, we assessed that you could set up and demonstrate activities correctly. Now we want to see that you can run these activities really well!
Decision-Making Training.
When to play a drop or drive? When to dink or when to attack? The level 2 course tackles the important challenge of working on decision-making training with your players.
Lesson Planning.
In the Level 2 course, instructors learn about what makes a great lesson plan and have to develop their own for evaluation. These must be detailed plans that include tactical and technical teaching points, timing indicators as well as contingency plans if things need adjusting.
